The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity is the single chartered professional body for the sport, fitness, leisure and physical activity sector. CIMSPA provides professional recognition of your status and qualifications and is developing career pathways for all in the sector – from student to CEO. CIMSPA is a registered charity and holds a royal charter.
CIMSPA has been mandated by government and Sport England as the strategic lead on workforce development for the sector, to achieve the goals of the 2015 Sporting Future and 2016 Towards an Active Nation strategies.
Major sector employers, including Nuffield Health, Everyone Active, GLL, Fusion Lifestyle and Places for People Leisure, have already committed to requiring that relevant staff are CIMSPA members, particularly exercise and fitness professionals.
They have backed CIMSPA because of frustrations with the variable quality of staff accredited by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) and have asked CIMSPA to provide an alternative.
CIMSPA now has over 60 employer partners across the UK, representing some 63,000 sector professionals, with new partners joining each week. Many of these partners have already transferred their staff from the REPs register to the CIMSPA exercise and fitness directory - www.cimspa.directoryCHECK OUT THE CIMSPA WEBSITE

Helping the UK to achieve a healthy balance, to be more precise. We think everybody deserves the support to reach their goals whatever they are, and without paying a premium or being tied into a contract. That’s why we offer no pressure membership that you can stop and start whenever you want. Instead of being tied to a year’s contract, and opening hours that just don’t suit lots of us, like shift workers and students, you can have exactly the way you want it.
For a start we’re open 24/7, almost every day of the year. And we won’t make you sign a contract that ties you in. All we’ll do is give you the exact amount of encouragement and support you need, and make sure you’ve got the very latest kit to do it on (we were one of the first fitness centres in the UK to introduce Myride® indoor cycling and 24/7 video-link pilates, yoga, dance and aerobics classes within our separate studio rooms, don’t you know). To find out more click HERE
